GUIDED TOURS
The group offers short,
medium and long walks along the trail
and they can be tailored to requirements.
Some examples:-
The Korucam Trail. This is a short walk of about
8 kms. The start is at Korucam, a mainly Maronite village,
towards the western end of the range. The walk ends at the Gecitkoy
reservoir - a lovely stretch of water with varied bird life.
The Buffavento
Forest Trail: a medium 15km walk mainly along the
lower slopes of Buffavento Castle. There are great views of
the North coast including, sometimes, the Southern coast of
Turkey.
The Kantara Trek. A longer trek of about 20kms
starting in the Gecitkale Gap, climbing
up past Mount Olympos and on along the ridge to the mountain
village of Kantara. A good level of fitness is required.
Many other walks along
The Trail are available.
Kyrenia Range Trek.
Along the trail
there are various places of interest: Crusader castles,
interesting villages, churches/monasteries, mosques, a
reservoir, the Herbarium and from November to May many wild
flowers.

The weather: Fortunately for
those who live here it does rain in the winter and spring;
fortunately for those on holiday, it does not usually last
long! July and August are too hot, but for the rest of the
year the weather is usually good for
walking. Walking/hiking/trekking

Hiking tours for people from all ages
and physical disposition are organized by a number of
centres in the Girne area and are generally conducted in
the Girne mountain range. One particular tour party,
organized by "Mountain Climbing Sport Association", meets
every Sunday between October and the end of April, and
twice a month (again on Sundays) between the summer months
from May to the end of September. During the winter the
tour programmed is published at the beginning of every
month, explaining the route and where to meet etc. All
walks, as well as being good exercise, endeavour to show
walkers interesting natural and historical features. The
tours generally start at 7:30 a.m. and finish between
10:00 and 11:00 a.m. It is essential that you wear proper
grooved walking shoes. You must also take your own water,
and a hiking stick is advisable.
